Lausanne Canada - A Tribute

Tim Tang
In Loving Memory of Timothy Tang - Called Home on September 4th, 2023

Rev. Dr. Timothy Tang has been called to his eternal reward, leaving a legacy of unwavering commitment to God's missional vision of blessing the nations. Tim's life journey was marked by a profound ability to bridge cultural differences with sensitivity and love, a gift that shaped his impactful service over the years.

From 2001 to 2016, Tim served as the English Pastor of East Toronto Community Baptist Church (ETCBC). His dedication to Integral Mission was evident as ETCBC became a founding member of the "Victoria Park HUB," a community outreach initiative in collaboration with the United Way.

Tim's pursuit of excellence in leadership led him to complete the Arrow Leadership program and a Doctor of Ministry degree at Gordon-Conwell Seminary, specializing in Intercultural Leadership Development. In 2016, he transitioned from pastoral ministry to become the associate director of Tyndale Intercultural Ministries Centre (TIM) and later became TIM Centre’s first full-time Director in 2018.

A sought-after intercultural consultant and coach, Tim made significant contributions to leaders and organizations engaged in intercultural ministry. His qualification as a facilitator in Intercultural assessment allowed him to help leaders and churches develop Intercultural Competence for missional ministry in our multicultural urban centres.

In addition to his pastoral and intercultural ministry, Tim served on several Boards, including InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, Canadian Baptist Ministry, and Lausanne Movement Canada. As a board member of Lausanne Canada, Tim's unwavering passion for God's kingdom, warmth, boundless generosity, and exceptional leadership were instrumental in focusing the board on critical kingdom issues. His humility and welcoming spirit endeared him to many, drawing people in with genuine friendship.

Together, we express our gratitude to the Lord for Tim's faithful service and his significant contributions to Lausanne Canada. Our hearts continue with Tim's wife, Joanne, and their children, Tobin, Mathis, and Breylin, as they navigate this sudden loss, along with all who knew and loved him. May God's grace and comfort surround them and sustain them always.
